Maxxi Bon broke through to win Maiden at Cranbourne tonight over the 1600m. After a promising 1st up 2nd at Sandown earlier in the month after a long injury lay off the 4YO Bon Aurum gelding showed a good turn of foot to come from mid field and win drawing away from the field on the line. Ridden a treat by Matthew Cartwright the horse proved too good on the day for trainer Wendy Kelly and her team. The horse himself was the 1st of Bon Aurum’s progeny to be born and a mixture in type of his sire and grandsire Bon Hoffa. Breeders and owners of the horse and his sire Bon Aurum Ken King and Stuart Joyce are delighted that the progeny are starting to run and look like progressive types on the race track. He looks like a horse that should make his way through the grades and be a great advertisement for his sire Bon Aurum who stands at Ken King’s Victorian stud for $6600.
