Lightly raced 3YO Blankfield has returned to remain unbeaten at his 2nd preparation for trainer Alex Rae, storming over the top from well back in the field at Caulfield to roll a high quality field of 3YO’s.
He came into todays race underdone coming of a viral setback after his 1st up win at Pakenham so the win carried extra merit. Trainer Alex Rae described it as an extraordinary effort based on the level of work he’d been able to put into him prior to the run. Speaking of the trainer we’ve enjoyed plenty of success the past month or so knocking up plenty of winners with his team.
Jamie Mott rode him patiently at the rear of the field, made a move coming to the corner and ran on strongly down the outside to grab the more fancied runners. Pretty good effort for the day when not many were making up ground.
Blankfield a son of Godolphin’s Champion G1 winner Blue Point hails form one of Ken King’s best performed broodmares. The mare Treasure Island has produced 4 to race for 4 winners including G2 winner and G1 placed BONS A PEARLA, Bons To Riches ( 5 wins and $164k), Bahama Bay (9 wins and $256k) and now Blankfield with 2 wins from 6 starts and $101k.
