Lightly raced 3YO gelding Southern Yankee made it two starts at Benalla for two wins with both over the 2000m trip. From his wide gate jockey Damien Thornton rolled forward to sit out side leader in run and then kicked clear when they straightened to win by a clear margin. The young stayer has now won twice from his 6 race starts and will now be given a chance to showcase his wears in town at his next start. The Busuttin stable continue to do a great job with him and rate him an improving type.
