Southern Yankee brought up his 3rd career win at Yarra Valley in a bold front running exhibition. Jockey Martin Harley looked for the lead at the jump then controlled the tempo throughout the run to kick clear on the turn to hold his rivals at bay by a comfortable margin. The 4yo Americain gelding had raced consistently this prep without winning including three 2nd placings but had his day at Yarra Valley. It was his 9th run in so all credit to the Busuttin training team for keeping him racing in good form deep into his campaign. The dam Southern Link is proving to be a very good broodmare with her only two to race both winners. Her yearling for 2020 is a RESET filly which Ken rates very highly. Another Ken King bred winner.
