Melba Storm upsets the short priced favorite The Garden today winning and in doing so breaking the class record for the 1100m in 1.02.39. She jumped well from her wide gate but was caught 3 wide no cover sitting outside the favorite who had the softer run in transit. They straightened up and she was just too strong to line winning drawing way. That was her 5th career win from just 12 starts and that matched jockey Jye McNiels five winners for the day his 1st for his career. The win was even more courageous when you consider she had along lay off through a serious leg fracture injury, too come back so strong is a credit to all involved in her recovery. Thanks to the Busuttin Young team forĀ  getting her back to the track in winning form.
